Finding our way in the diaspora of game worlds

A Last Chance for Redemption

Rapture is resplendent in graphic design, and this includes the kinds of wayfinding tools we’re interested in. Given that the city is underwater and thus entirely enclosed, streets and landmarks are harder to come by. The city is instead divided into clearly-marked zones.

These examples from the city’s Welcome Centre show how zones and facilities are characterised by distinctive signs. Neon is often used to illuminate the icons and art deco typefaces in these — particularly in the Transit Hub.

Taken while playing through the game for the first time, hopefully to be expanded upon soon. A circular targeting reticule appears on two shots.
